Dr. Donald Slate II
Medical Director
Dr. Slate provides medical oversight for People Inc., ensuring that thousands of people supported by the agency receive high-quality health care. He joined People Inc. in 2024 and has been instrumental in implementing a unique Nurse Practitioner Program, which provides urgent medical assessments and care in the agency’s residences for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Dr. Slate earned his medical degree from the University at Buffalo. He also serves as an Associate Chair of Pathology for Catholic Health System of Buffalo, where he chairs the credentials committee.
Maralyn Militello
Chief Program Officer
As Chief Program Officer, Maralyn oversees residential services, day services, respite care, clinical services, and quality improvement. She also oversees our affiliates, Virtual Medical Care and People First Mobility. With more than 30 years of health-care experience, Maralyn started at People Inc. in 2023. She earned a bachelor's degree in nursing from the University at Buffalo and a master’s degree in public administration with a focus in health-care administration from Troy University. Maralyn is a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ), Nurse Executive Advanced-Board Certified (NEA-BC) and participated in an executive fellowship in health law at Virginia Commonwealth University.
Annette Phillips RN BSM ACM
Vice President Clinical Practice
Annette Phillips serves as vice president clinical practice for Virtual Medical Care. She is also the associate vice president of clinical practice for People Inc.
Annette is a Registered Nurse and has practiced for 25 years in Buffalo, New York. In addition, she has worked in Healthcare Administration for the past 19 years, predominately in the Business and Clinical Operations Primary Care setting.
She is a graduate of Trocaire College of Nursing and completed her bachelor’s degree in Business Management at Houghton College, with additional studies at the University of Rochester School of Nursing.
Denise Fleck
Director of Operations
Denise Fleck is the director of operations at VMC and at People Inc. With 25 years of healthcare experience, Denise oversees the department’s day-to-day operations, including all human resources responsibilities. She brings her expertise to Virtual Medical Care as she works to build and expand the company by streamlining existing protocols, policies, and procedures.
She has volunteered with various organizations throughout her career, including Cancer Care Run.
